This is a externally-braced 40-foot boxcar, class X26, built near the end of World War I. The PRR had 9900 of these. 3500 of them were later
rebuilt into X26c boxcars.
The Micro-Trains model was released in June 2002. It appears to be a very accurate model of the original X26 as built near the end of World War I.
It shows a built date of July 1919. The doors are operational. The original model weighs 0.6oz (16g), which is 0.35oz shy of the NMRA recommended
standard. The first photo (below) shows the model with all the modifications applied, while the second photo shows the original.
The prototype photo of #564287 came from the Steam
Freight Cars web site. Another reference is: "PRR Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, Vol. 2", 1996, Morning Sun
Books, Inc., ISBN 1-878887-55-6, pg 33.

The class X41a is a 50-foot boxcar used for transporting automobiles. The prototype photo of road number 84880 came from the
PRR
Railfan web site. The book "PRR Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment", Vol. 2, pg 44 has a photo of road number 82057.
It appears to have been repainted with the PRR's later paint scheme. The class X41a had doors on their "A" end.
The Micro-Trains model indicates a built date of February 1945, and appears to be a very accurate model of the car in the original paint scheme.
