The flat car was really my first "successful" weathering project. I brought out the weathering chalk and a brush and just started applying it. I applied a rust color to
the couplers and the trucks. The only thing I did that can be reproduced was the painting of the wheels. I used a color called Dwarf Bronze produced by a company called
"Citadel Colour". I have no idea where we bought this. We probably got it at a Hobby Lobby or crafts store like that. We have a lot of different odd colors like that so
it must have been a set of some sorts. The color is a rust brown and it has what looks like glitter in it. I thought it might be too reflective, but turns out to create
just the right amount. Researching it on the Net I found that it is a water-based acrylic paint that is intended for painting metal.
