Most of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Fairbanks-Morse C-Liners ("Consolidation Line") were built in late 1950. They replaced the "Erie-builts"
of the post-war. In 1951 the C-Liners were moved from the PRR's Middle Division to the Central Region (Pittsburgh) to handle freight. These
locomotives were all retired in 1965. The photo on the right came from the
Division Point Web Site. The
Railfan web site has
diagrams of the side and end profile of the locomotive. Of course, an excellent reference for these locomotives is the book
"Pennsylvania Railroad Diesel Locomotive Pictorial Volume Five Fairbanks-Morse Locomotives", 2000, Withers Publishing,
ISBN 1-881411-28-1, pp 328-339.
A set of four Like-Like models were released in 2001. One nice feature is that when all four were hooked up together they automatically ran
in the correct direction. The models are very accurate compared to prototype photos in the book referenced above.
