GP7
Pennsylvania Railroad #8512

The Pennsylvania Railroad ordered and received a total of 66 GP7 locomotives between January 1952 and September 1953 from EMD. Their successor was the GP9 of which the PRR had 310 units (a full 12% of their fleet), but these didn't arrive until October 1955 and so they are outside of my modeled time period. The prototype photo of road number 8799 is shown on the right and came from the Fallen Flags web site. The Vandalia/Pennsylvania Railroad web site has a photo of #8509. Additional print references are found in the "Pennsylvania Railroad Diesel Locomotive Pictorial Volume 8 - Early EMD Road Switchers" (2003, Withers Publishing, ISBN 1-881411-37-0, pp 565-586) book.

I own three of these Atlas models (all were unnumbered originally). I had them converted to DCC with a Digitrax DZ121 decoder by Brad of Brad's N-scale.
