This scale drawing shows the cross profile of the roadbed I'm building for this layout. The left side will be toward the viewing area. I tried to mimick the typical prototype profile, including the drainage ditch.

The center five strips for the layout were finished last night. The remainder was completed today. What slowed me down was the number of clamps I have. The C-clamps shown in the photos above are helpful, but spring clamps will make the job easier. In the future, when I use this method of roadbed construction, I will be investing in a large number of small spring clamps. The next set of photos shows the completed initial roadbed.
