Yesterday I completed laying the wooden ties. I did the full 181 inches of track in two sessions, about four hours altogether. It is a relaxing and enjoyable
project.
The next step is to stain the ties. I used a regular wood stain, MinWax' Special Walnut. A grayish stain would have been better, but I wanted to use what I
had. The flashlight of the camera makes the ties look lighter than they really are. After I took this photo I started dry-brushing some gray, black, and
white paint on the tops of the ties to age them a bit.
