It is time to formally add the turntable to the layout. I have a separate article on how I constructed
this turntable. Last night I glued it to the subroadbed of the layout, so it is now formally connected. I want to preserve the turntable when this layout
is demolished, so the small glue surface holding the two parts together can be easily snapped apart.
The turntable on the layout needs to have a working light
for possible night-time operations.
The photo on the right shows the Miniatronics lamppost with two working lights. I bought this unit many years ago. It seemed like it was about time to
actively use it on a layout.
I drilled a 9/64" hole in the turntable top, followed by a 5/32" hole, drilled only about halfway through. After routing the wires and resistor through
the hole, the lamppost fit snuggly in the hole.
Night time operations on the BC&E. Photo was taken without a flash and no lights on in the room.
