The railroad gains more ground. It is time to add some more track to the layout, so I cut this piece of plywood shown in the photo. It is custom-fitted to fill the space remaining in front of the mainline. I set is down from the mainline by about 3/8". The plywood sheet has "legs" glued to it so that it sits on the bookcase for now. It is removable so that I can work on it on my workbench.

An observation I have made is that I am moving toward separate diorama-style parts to this layout (except, of course, the mainline). When this layout is to be taken down, I can take these dioramas with me and possibly integrate them into a future layout.
