Even though I haven't updated these pages in a while, I have been busy laying track.
The Bear Creek industrial area still needed to be connected to the turntable. The next two photos show the upramp to the turntable.
However, after building this section of track (highlighted in the yellow area on the next photo), I discovered that the angle was too sharp. I kind of
suspected that, but I wanted a run-around track in this section of the layout, so I had to make this section of track fit the available space.
Sooooo..., after some thought, I decided the run-around track wasn't as critical as I thought it was. I can do some switching using the turntable. I took out
a section of ties and the "upramp". The decision removed the need for two of the four turnouts in the area. A new, much longer, upramp will be constructed
next.
I kept some of the ties I had put down in anticipation of the turnout. This will represent a section of track that has been pulled up in the past. In the
next photo, in the bottom right corner, that track will connect to the turntable to complete the trackwork of this section of the layout.
