Bear Creek & Eastern - March 31st, 2008

Special Anniversary
On March 28th, 2008 this layout became the layout that I have worked on longer than any other layout. My old "P&C RR version 3" lasted 782 days. March 28, 2008 marked day number 783 for the "Bear Creek & Eastern". It is hard to believe that I have spent so much time on this layout (over two years and two months) and that I have accomplished so little! (ha, ha, ha!), but having my own business doesn't leave much free time. I plan on working on this layout until we move, so, let's get back to work...

The laying of the ties for the center section and the lower level of the left-hand section of the layout has been completed. The next photo shows the center section. The existing mainline is at the lower right-hand corner of the photo. A curved turnout splits the mainline into the lower and upper level track. The lower level track is near the backdrop. Ties have been placed up to the flextrack I placed two weeks ago. The front track is the upper level. I placed enough ties to allow me to test the turnout after it has been built.

The next photo shows the layout on the left-hand side of the room. This is the lower level. The track parallels a future river front. A run-around is provided for switching. Leads on either end of the two turnouts will allow some room for switching. The ties in the lower left-hand corner of the photo stop at the end of the "ground". However, my plan is to extend this track over a trestle bridge to the edge of the layout to provide more switching space.
