FRSFileList™ is a tool for quickly finding files on your computer that meet very specific criteria. Once you find this list of files, you can delete files, copy the found
file paths to the Windows® Clipboard, print the listing, or export the list to an external text file for further processing in another application.
The Newest Files
Let's say you just downloaded a file (for example, one of our installation programs), or you saved a document, but you can't remember into which folder you saved it. You can have
FRSFileList find the newest files on your C: drive. If you saved the file to your C: drive, within a short time you'll have your answer.
The Oldest Files
Files just seem to collect on your computer. Wouldn't it be nice if you could find the oldest file in a particular folder to help you decide whether or not you still need that file?
FRSFileList can quickly determine which files are the oldest ones on your computer or in a particular folder and its sub-folders. What sets FRSFileList apart from using Windows®
Explorer is that FRSFileList can show you results across multiple sub-folders in a clean and clear way.
The Largest Files
Your computer's disk drive is rapidly starting to fill up. Use FRSFileList to help you find the real space hogs! Installation programs of software you no longer need, large
compressed downloads (.ZIP files, for example), and other such typically large files can easily be found and then deleted using FRSFileList. When you delete a file using FRSFileList,
the file is always deleted to your computer's Recycle Bin. That way, if you change your mind, you can restore it.
The Smallest Files
Why would you want to find the smallest files on your computer? On a standard Windows-based computer each file takes up at least 4,096 bytes even if the file contains less data than
that. So, a file with no data (i.e. Windows Explorer will report "0 bytes") actually still takes up 4,096 bytes on your computer's disk drive. What Windows Explorer (and Fourth Ray
Software's FRSFileMgr™) report is the size of the content of the file, not the amount of space the file occupies on the disk drive. By deleting unused "empty" files, you
can save yourself some disk space.
FRSFileList requires a trivial 3.9MB of storage space on your computer. It has been designed to run on all editions of the following operating systems: Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Our software installs cleanly with minimal fuss, and usually without requiring a re-boot. You can easily and completely remove the application using the standard Windows Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs", or "Programs and Features" on Windows 7.
The installation program for FRSFileList is approximately 2.8MB in size (takes less than a minute to download on DSL or cable connections). When prompted, be sure to click the "Save" button to store the FRSFileList installation program onto your computer's disk drive. All of our installation programs are routinely tested by third-parties for viruses, so you can rest assured that you are downloading a clean installation program. When the download completes, open the folder wherein you stored the file, and then double-click the file ("FRSFileListInstall.exe") to start the installation program. Our installation programs are simple and straightforward. We have a step-by-step download guide.
