How It Works

FRSGiftRegistry™ is a software application for managing your retail store's gift registries. A registry is a document maintained by the store. It lists a person's name, his or her event date, and a collection of products that person would like to receive on or before that event. Such a person is typically referred to as a "registrant". Each store will have its own type of gift registries, but typical ones are for baby showers, bridal showers, house-warming parties, or any other special occasion.

Using FRSGiftRegistry you can maintain any kind of gift registry for any number of registrants. Each registrant typically only has one registry event, but FRSGiftRegistry supports more than one, should the need ever arise (e.g. a couple decides to have a second child and have another baby shower registry at your store). For each registry event FRSGiftRegistry maintains the list of products the registrant selected from your store. As customers purchase items for a particular registry, you can mark them off the list.

FRSGiftRegistry can quickly print off a listing of the remaining products for a particular registry. This is useful for a busy store where a person comes in wanting to buy something for such-n-so's registry. FRSGiftRegistry also provides reports for the storeowner, as well as one for the registrant, so that he or she knows who bought what (so that he or she can send out "thank-you" notes).

Once a registry for a registrant has been set up in FRSGiftRegistry, you will spend most of your time interacting with the list of products. If you already maintain a store products inventory database, FRSGiftRegistry might be able to retrieve such information as product name, description, and retail price simply by you only entering the product's SKU or PLU number (the number matching your product ID in the store's database) in the application's registry list. This saves you time having to enter a lot of data.

If you don't have a store inventory database, or FRSGiftRegistry is unable to communicate with it, the application comes with its own internal products database which you can use. It will be empty at first, but as you add products, the database will be populated. You enter a product once, then when another registrant selects that same product, all you have to do is enter the SKU/PLU number, and the rest of the information about that product will be automatically retrieved.

If you use an inventory hand-scanner with which your store's registrants can scan the barcodes of those products they would like to see in their registries, it is likely that you can download the list of SKU/PLU numbers from scanner to a text file onto your computer. From there FRSGiftRegistry can import the SKU/PLU numbers from that file and automatically look them up in your store's product database. This makes it very easy and less error-prone to set up a product listing for a registry. If the registrant comes to the store later and changes his or her mind about some or all of the products in his or her registry, FRSGiftRegistry can easily handle importing products for an existing registry again.

One key feature of FRSGiftRegistry is its ability to generate web content from your gift registry data. You can turn this option on or off. These web pages can be seamlessly integrated into your existing web site, even if you have someone else maintain your web site for you. The application comes with a set of basic templates, and the full, online documentation will show the person maintaining your web site how to convert these templates to match your web site's "look and feel".

If you enable this feature, your web site will always reflect the latest store registries. You can have these pages integrated with your web site's shopping cart for easy product sales. You also control for how long after the event has expired FRSGiftRegistry is to generate pages for the event, to capture after-event sales.

FRSGiftRegistry can generate the necessary web pages (which can be integrated into your existing web site) to have potential registrants sign up for a registry with your store online, if you want to provide that service.

System Requirements

FRSGiftRegistry requires a trivial 3.6MB of storage space on your computer. It has been designed to run on all editions of the following operating systems: Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

Install/Un-install

Our software installs cleanly with minimal fuss, and usually without requiring a re-boot. You can easily and completely remove the application using the standard Windows Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs", or "Programs and Features" on Windows 7.

Trial Period

Starting with the first day you start or execute FRSGiftRegistry on your computer, you have a one-time trial period of 21 calendar days to try out the application. After this trial period you must purchase a license for FRSGiftRegistry to be able to continue to use it. The trial version is not crippled in any way; you get to use the full functionality for 21 days for free. We want you to fully experience the power of FRSGiftRegistry before deciding to purchase it. Any settings you have made in the application during the trial period will be preserved and will be available after you buy your license. No need to download or install the application again after purchase.

The installation program for FRSGiftRegistry is approximately 3MB in size (takes less than a minute to download on DSL or cable connections). When prompted, be sure to click the "Save" button to store the FRSGiftRegistry installation program onto your computer's disk drive. All of our installation programs are routinely tested by third-parties for viruses, so you can rest assured that you are downloading a clean installation program. When the download completes, open the folder wherein you stored the file, and then double-click the file ("FRSGiftRegistryInstall.exe") to start the installation program.
