How It Works
Does your web site have links to other web sites outside of your direct control? Nearly all web sites do these days. These types of links are referred to as "external links". The problem is, how do you know when the web sites they reference have been moved or eliminated?
You could, of course, manually click on each external link on your web site to see if the link is still valid. Doing that on a regular basis is just plain boring, which means it doesn't get done. Web sites wind up looking abandoned because visitors quickly discover that links aren't working. FRSLinkCheck™ makes this process fun and easy!
Another problem we find on web sites is that links within the web site itself point to nothing. That's just plain embarrassing! But an easy mistake to make, though. This becomes a real maintenance problem when you have a complex web site.
Again, rather than going through this process manually, use FRSLinkCheck to verify links between your web site's pages in seconds. These links can be to any file, including image, video, or document files. FRSLinkCheck can also determine whether those files actually reside on the server that hosts your web site, if applicable.
An intranet is a fully-functional web site, but is usually not available to the general public. Because of FRSLinkCheck's ability to do consistency checks on your web site locally, these types of web sites are just as easily verified. If you maintain one or dozens of web sites, it doesn't matter. FRSLinkCheck will validate them all.
FRSLinkCheck starts validating immediately after you have set up your web site project (or start the application if you have set up a project before). Links that are found to be invalid due to a temporary condition will be re-checked every few minutes until verified. Any bad links are flagged and reported to you, so you can easily spot them. Lots of information is provided for the currently selected project in the status bar, such as how many files and links are being validated, how many bad links were found, etc.
FRSLinkCheck provides the ability to directly modify a broken link from within its interface. You can still make wholesale changes using your favorite web page editor, but if the link requires just a minor change, you can do that directly from within the application. Some fixes don't even require you to type; just point and click!
If you leave FRSLinkCheck up while you modify your web pages locally, it will automatically refresh to gather the new files and links, and validate modified or new files and links.
FRSLinkCheck can also validate your own Microsoft Internet Explorer Favorites and Firefox Bookmarks (version 3.x only; version 4 support coming soon), if you have those. We've just added the powerful new feature of modifying or deleting links and folders from your Favorites/Bookmarks directly from within FRSLinkCheck. System Requirements
FRSLinkCheck requires a trivial 4.6MB of storage space on your computer. It has been designed to run on all editions of the following operating systems: Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Install/Un-install
Our software installs cleanly with minimal fuss, and usually without requiring a re-boot. You can easily and completely remove the application using the standard Windows Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs", or "Programs and Features" on Windows 7.
Trial Period
Starting with the first day you start or execute FRSLinkCheck on your computer, you have a one-time trial period of 21 calendar days to try out the application. After this trial period you must purchase a license for FRSLinkCheck to be able to continue to use it. The trial version is not crippled in any way; you get to use the full functionality for 21 days for free. We want you to fully experience the power of FRSLinkCheck before deciding to purchase it. Any settings you have made in the application during the trial period will be preserved and will be available after you buy your license. No need to download or install the application again after purchase.
Download
The installation program for FRSLinkCheck is approximately 3.2MB in size (takes less than a minute to download on DSL or cable connections). When prompted, be sure to click the "Save" button to store the FRSLinkCheck installation program onto your computer's disk drive. All of our installation programs are routinely tested by third-parties for viruses, so you can rest assured that you are downloading a clean installation program. When the download completes, open the folder wherein you stored the file, and then double-click the file ("FRSLinkCheckInstall.exe") to start the installation program.
